Ministry

As the father has sent me, so I send you (John 20:21). We're Christ’s ambassadors, sent to do his work: sharing the gospel, teaching the Word, caring for our neighbors and loving one another. This is the way to life abundant. Our ministries are directed and shaped by the Word of Christ.

Mission

Immeasurably more than all we asked or imagined (Ephesians 3:20). We never dreamed over thirty years ago what God would do when he sent us to the mission fields of East Africa. Partnering with our brethren, by God’s grace, we have been able to help establish hundreds of churches, a children’s home, a Bible institute, a media production studio, and most recently, a major university. Quaker Avenue Church of Christ | Lubbock, TX

Christ said, “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly.” As individuals and as a community of Christians at Quaker Avenue, we seek to live the abundant life that Christ promised his disciples. We’re committed to lives of moral purity, spiritual growth and loving service. We’re committed to doing our part to fulfill our Lord’s great commission, which is to preach the gospel to all people in all nations.

We believe each member is called to be a spiritually gifted minister of Christ. We believe that parents are called to provide for the spiritual development of their children. We believe the elders and teachers of the congregation are called to equip us to live our lives in Christ-like service and devotion.

At Quaker, we desire the unity of all believers in Christ. In that spirit, we strive to be “Christians only not the only Christians.” Our congregational motto is “In faith unity, In opinion liberty, In all things love.
