Ministries of Celebration and Community

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

  • You may be surprised to see a category of ministry entitled celebration. But, take a moment to reflect on the life of Jesus, and you will realize that his life was filled with moments of joy and fellowship. In fact, one of the charges ma de against him was that he went to too many parties (Luke 7:34) and had too much fun (Matthew 9: 9-17). Jesus' response to these charges was that he came to bring abundant life, to transform our daily struggle with sorrow and disappointments with an underlying joy which could not be taken away, a joy which springs forth when Christians gather together in fellowship.

We want to encourage each member to feel a part of the family of believers at Quaker. As we grow in number, that becomes a more difficult but not impossible challenge. One way we nurture the family here is by doing what all families do; we play together. When the holiday seasons come, we celebrate them with our family at Quaker whether it's our fall festival, our Christmas party or just having a picnic together in the park. Sometimes we have special dinners honoring one another. We often have special services where the body comes together in prayer or making baskets to take to our homebound members. We especially love to sing together and have musical projects throughout the year.

When we come together to celebrate our love for God and each other, we experience renewal and a stronger fellowship to continue the work we have been called to do by Christ. These ministries are extremely important. Soldiers need a little R&R (rest and recreation) every once in a while and soldiers of the cross are no different. Helping plan such events may be the area of ministry for you.
    Fall Festival
A congregational festival during Halloween season that provides a safe and spiritually positive environment for our children (and members!) to celebrate the fall holiday.
    Annual Golf Outing
An opportunity for members who enjoy hitting the links to include a round of good fellowship as well.
For years Quaker has produced an annual Christmas musical for the community involving members of all ages in the singing and other production needs. Special "sermons in songs" are also frequently presented in our Sunday morning services.
    Christmas Party
A wonderful time of sharing together and welcoming our newer members who are invited to place their own family ornament on our church family Christmas tree.
    New Year's Eve Party
An evening of food, fellowship and games until midnight when we bring in the new year in prayer.
